RABBI ROMIEL DANIEL

Rabbi Romiel Daniel was born and raised in Mumbai, India in a religious home following the Indian Jewish tradition. After first arriving in the United States, to earn his Masters in Chemistry from Brandeis University, Rabbi Daniel returned to India to become the Vice President of an apparel company, moving from India to Mauritius and eventually Madagascar, before finally coming back to America to train as a Cantor at Yeshiva University. In 2008, Rabbi Daniel became Cantor of RPJC and in 2015 our Rabbi.

As the only ordained Indian Rabbi in North America, Rabbi Daniel’s unique cultural position has made him something of a minor celebrity with write ups in The New York Times, Daily News, Jewish Week, and The Daily Forward amongst many others! In addition the Rabbi has been invited to lecture on The Jews of India at Lincoln Center, The Queens Museum, and JCC’s across the country.

FROM THE INBOX

Good morning Rabbi Daniel,
By the GRACE of HaShem you and your wife Noreen are well.
Again, I want to thank you for sharing your deep knowledge of B’resheet with your congregation. In all my years of studying with prominent rabbis, your discourse of B’resheet is the most proficient.
Elise & I enjoy and appreciate your lectures.
Have a beautiful day to you and Noreen and Chodesh Tov.

Dear Rabbi Romiel Daniel,
We are writing to thank you for holding prayers and Parashot classes. We especially appreciate your religious programs during this time when we are forced to remain in isolation due to the Corona-19 pandemic.
Erna and I have been attending your religious programs and services, including lectures and seders, for the last several years. These programs and services are rich with meaning, they are well planned and lovingly presented.
We consider ourselves fortunate to have you as our Rabbi and teacher. We pray that you continue in your work making it more widely known to all about the grandeur of His magnificent Torah.
Mazel Tov. All our blessing and good wishes to you and Noreen.
Sincerely yours,
Erna & Sam Daniel Divekar

Dear Rabbi Daniel,
Despite the difficulties brought on by this awful pandemic and the challenges of having this year’s High Holy Days service remotely, for me it was, surprisingly, quite comforting. Thank you.
I wish you and your loved ones good health and a good year!
Sincerely,
Thomas Cunow
